New teams to be fixed soon for 4th BPL

Post  Admin on Tue Aug 16, 2016 10:21 pm

The third edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) took place in last November after an interval of almost two years but the fourth edition is supposed to commence within regular time span and has been scheduled to occur in the forthcoming November.

Concerned authorities, earlier, reckoned about increasing the number of teams in the next edition of BPL. Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon informed the two additional two teams will be selected within two weeks from now on.

“New franchises will be added for the upcoming edition of BPL. Last year Rajshahi applied to join but we could not take them due to delay. This year Khulna might also join in the scene. We will fix everything within our rules” – Papon said.

The advertisement for new franchises is going to be published soon and according to the words of BCB Chief, the names will also be determined within fifteen days.

“We will publish advertisement soon and going to select new franchises within 15 days. But several franchises from the previous occasion could be thrown out for not obeying the rules and regulations determined by BCB. In that case, new names will be added as their replacement” – Nazmul Hasan Papon said.

The first edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) occurred back in 2011 with six teams. The second edition contained one more team. The largest domestic T20 competition was postponed for two years due to corruption and irregularities.
