Bangladesh A win ODI series over Lions

Post  Admin on Tue Jan 17, 2012 4:46 am

Despite having a repeated changes in the team, Bangladesh A maintained the winning spree to clinch the five-match one-dayer series against England Lions. Opener Imrul Kayes scripted the victory hitting an unbeaten 110 runs knock to help the second string Bangladesh an unassailable 3-1 lead as they sealed a comprehensive six-wicket win at Sylhet Divisional Stadium on Monday.
Bangladesh A turned around the things magnificently despite having beaten in practice match and first one-dayer which sparked the debate over the logic of the repeated changes in the team.
England Lions, however, amassed a paltry 208 before being all out in 49.2 overs which Bangladesh A overhauled comfortably with 28 balls to spare. Farhad Reza scared the touring party right from the start having scalped two wickets cheaply that reeled them on miserable 28 for two. The visitors hit back from the odds courtesy to Joe Root and Bairstow’s 82-run partnership but thereafter no batsmen could resist the freefall of the lower order. Joe Root was the highest scorer with 81 runs while Bairstow made 35 runs. Buttler was another notable scorer with 41 runs.
Farhad Reza claimed three wickets for 29 runs while Al-Almin, Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, Shohag picked up one wicket apiece.
In reply opener Imrul Kayes and Nasiruddin Faruque eased the pressure with sharing 72-run partnership. Faruque made 21 runs before being out. Bangladesh A then lost Jahirul Islam Omee cheaply but that could not affect the team since Kayes got going well. He got an ably support in Naeem Islam and the duo edged the side closer to victory with 67-run partnership for the third wicket stand.
Afterwards though Naeem on 40 and skipper Alok Kapali on 8 was dismissed in a short space, Kayes left the ground unbeatably. He was unbeaten on 110 off 131 with nine fours and three sixes.
