Siddons shows interest to coach one BPL team

Post  Admin on Tue Jan 03, 2012 5:55 am

Former Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons showed his interest to coach one of the teams in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Apart from Siddons, Alan Campbell, who came to Bangladesh to coach the GP-BCB Cricket Academy batsmen for a month and Stuart Barnes, the head coach of Bangladesh A team also wanted to be coach of any team of BPL, said Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, the chairman of BPL Governing Body. Since the team auction is yet to be held and the six divisional teams’ name was not decided, the BPL Governing Body did not take any decision regarding the coaches.

“Siddons contacted with us to inquire about BPL whether the foreign coaches will be allowed to coach the BPL teams. Apart from that, Alan Campbell and Stuart Barnes also showed their interest,” he said.
Besides, England pacer Sajid Mahmood and batsman Dimitri Mascarenhas were the new included players to show interest to play the BPL.

Paul Nixon was the another English player who showed interest but he probably could act as a coach in BPL.

A total of 75 foreign players will be auctioned in the much-awaited BPL. The management company have already finalised the contract with five renowned players - Chris Gayle, Shivnanrine Chanderpaul, Matt Prior, Ajanta Mendis and Stuart McGill.

Meanwhile BPL event management company Game On Sports Management’s director Anjan Ganguly left Dhaka for India on Monday.
It is known that he would finalise the contract with the Indian players there.

The money-spinning BPL will be held on February 10 following a colorful inaugural ceremony.
