Because of wrong account number

Post  Admin on Sat Feb 02, 2013 6:14 am

Feb 1: The wrong account number sparked all controversy of latest pay row in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as the governing council was criticized further over the payment issue of English cricketer Owais Shah. Owais Shah, an overseas recruit of Dhaka Gladiators threatened to shun the tournament after he claimed that his 25 percent of the wages was not sent to his account. Dhaka Gladiators also blamed BCB touting it as a farce as they had already submitted the players’ bank guarantee.

BCB on the other hand kept saying they sent the money to Shah’s account despite there was some irregularities in Dhaka’s players’ contract paper.
Later on Thursday, Shah himself admitted that he mistakenly had given the governing council a wrong account number for which he did not get his money to his account, said Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon.

“During my stay in Dubai, I heard one foreign player did not get his money which was not to be as to my knowledge his wages was sent to his account which he provided. However he admitted yesterday that the account number he gave us was wrong. As far as I know, he is supposed to admit his mistake to the media,” BCB chief told the reporters on Friday.

Till filing this report neither Owais Shah made any comment on this issue nor did the Dhaka Gladiators deliver any statement.

Papon issued a strict warning to the franchisees that they would make big mistake if they make a farce with payment issue.

“They wanted to clear the payment after returning to Dhaka. That’s why we stretched the deadline to next Tuesday. It will be a big mistake if they don’t clear the payment in this year because we would have no reservation to go hardline,” he said.

The BCB boss advised the franchisees and players to talk to the BCB before making any negative comment over BPL as he thought it would tarnish the image of the country.

“ICC board members were stunned by the huge presence of the spectators in Chittagong. It was beyond their imagination that so many people could watch the domestic tournament.

“As the ICC board members were satisfied about our BPL, our players and franchisees should be restrained to make comment on this. I heard that one of our local player had some allegation as they are yet to be paid. But still they should not make it public, if they make it, our image will be tarnished. Before making such comment, franchisees and players should sat with BCB to discuss about their problems. Boar is now players’ guarantor so they should not be worried about it. We’ve paid the due of last year
and this year it won’t be different.”
