DBL, Axiom and Royals submit Tk55m bank-guarantee

Post  Admin on Sun Aug 30, 2015 4:31 am

Two previous Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 franchises Rangpur Riders and Sylhet Royals have cleared their outstanding dues while the latter have also submitted the new pay order for the forthcoming third edition of the controversial tournament, scheduled to roll on the field on November 25 this year.

Two new companies - DBL Brothers and Axiom Technologies – on the other hand have provided the pay-order and the bank guarantee, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s media committee chairman Jalal Younus informed the media yesterday.

“The update till [yesterday] for the BPL is that Sylhet Royals have cleared all of their outstanding dues. They have also submitted the pay-order and the bank guarantee for the upcoming edition. They are all clean,” said the board’s media chief at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

“Rangpur Riders have paid their
previous dues but did not submit the pay-order or the bank guarantee for the forthcoming edition.

“And among the probable new franchises, DBL Brothers and Axiom Technologies have submitted all the necessary documents and paid the whole amount of the bank guarantee, worth Tk 55m (5.5 crores),” he added.

Jalal further informed that more interested organisations can still submit the papers as the deadline expires today. He believes four-five companies will submit their applications before the deadline.

“After looking at the applications and assessing the financial aspects, we will decide on the number of teams. As BCB president [Nazmul Hasan] informed earlier, we might increase the number of teams or we may go for the same as before. We will get to know about this later,” he said.

Jalal concluded that apart from the Royals and the Riders, there are no chances for the previous BPL franchises to take part in the third edition, and said a final decision on the number of participating teams will be taken in a board meeting scheduled for the first week of next month.
