Bidding for BPL teams today

The franchise bidding of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be held on Tuesday at a local hotel in the city.

A total of 10 companies including some foreign companies will bid to buy the six divisional teams. The bidding process will start at 11 am. The documents opening will start at 12 noon after the bidders submitted it.

Thereafter the highest bidder’s name will be disclosed publicly. The floor price of the bidding process is US$ 1 million. The Game On Sports Management which got the rights of the BPL, will get the total money.

The franchise will however name the team after buying the team. Bangladesh earlier orgainsed NCL Twenty20 successfully which produced some hype as well. But this time around, a good number of foreign stars will ignite Bangladesh through BPL to make it a grand tournament.

Leading corporate house of Bangladesh bought the teams in NCL Twenty20. It is known that most of those corporate houses will take part in the bidding process of BPL alongside the other companies.

A total of 80 local players and as many foreign players will be auctioned which will be held on January 19.

The BPL governing body is yet to name the local players’ list while so far 160 foreign players gave their confirmation to play in the BPL. The BPL governing body has already announced the name of six icon players. They are: Shakib Al Hasan for Khulna, Tamim Iqbal for Chittagong, Mushfiqur Rahim for Rajshahi, Alok Kapali for Sylhet, Shahriar Nafees for Barisal and Mohammad Ashraful for Dhaka.

The players’ list for both foreign and local are scheduled to be published on January 11.

The BPL will kick-off on February 10. But the theme song of the money-cash tournament will be unveiled on January 13 at Cox’s Bazar though a concert. Sub-continent’s famous music director Bappi Lahiri will render the theme song along with Shreya Ghoshal.
