Dispute over Dilshan continues

Post  Admin on Sat Oct 31, 2015 5:56 pm

The controversy over the service of Sri Lankan legend cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan in the forthcoming third season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) took a new twist after the all-rounder made himself available only for Rangpur franchise.

But like Rangpur Riders, Chittagong Vikings too have claimed to have secured the service of the all-rounder and paid him $30,000 as advance.

However BPL officials are now saying Dilshan mistakenly believed that the amount was paid to him for the second edition when he played for champions Dhaka Gladiators for $75,000.

“He continued talks with Rangpur as he believed Chittagong’s payment was part of his previous deal,” said a BPL official seeking unanimity.

In the meantime, acording to Afzalur Rahman Sinha, who is the BPL governing council chairman, chances for Dilshan to be allowed to play for Rangpur Riders in the money-spinning tournament is now slim as Chittagong Vikings appeared to have completed their part of the payment.

“Unless the Vikings settle down the matter mutually, Dilshan doesn’t have much chances of playing elsewhere. The Vikings authority have signed documents with them,” Sinha was quoted as saying by the New Age.
