Jubair, Marshal, Raqibul to play for Rangpur Riders

Post  Admin on Fri Nov 06, 2015 11:33 am

Jubair Hossain Likhon, the young leg spinner, who is considered as one of the futures of Bangladesh cricket, was left unpicked in the Players by Choice for the third season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). However, Jubair, who is at the moment preparing for Tigers’ forthcoming ODI series against Zimbabwe, has finally got a team for the forthcoming cash-rich tournament. In the tournament, he will be seen representing Rangpur Riders.

Rangpur Riders are one of the brightest contenders to clinch the title this season, with having the number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in their team. Overall they have got quite a balanced side. Having already four specialist spinners, the inclusion of Jubair will now strengthen their spin department to even better.

Maverick all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is also the icon cricketer of Rangpur Riders, had earlier expressed his fondness about the young spinner. Shakib had also said that one day Jubair will have 300-400 Test wickets to his name. So it is believed that it was none than the world’s best all-rounder Shakib, who convinced the Rangpur owners to take Jubair to their side.

Apart from Jubair, the only old franchise of this year’s BPL, have also roped in the discarded national batsmen Marshal Ayub and Raqibul Hasan as well. Both Raqibul and Marshal have their previous experience of representing Bangladesh national side in international level but they remained unsold for the BPL, perhaps because of their classic style of batting, which suits more in the longer version than the shorter ones.

With the inclusion of these new three players, the total number of local players in the Rangpur franchise now climbs up to 13. All three new players were in the ‘B’ category of draft list. So all of them will get 18 lac Taka from Rangpur.

Rangpur Riders Local Players : Shakib Al Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithun, Arafat Sunny, Saqlain Sajib, Muktar Ali, Jahurul Islam, Raqibul Hasan, Marshal Ayub, Jubair Hossain Likhon, Abu Jayed, Mohammad Murad Khan, Rasel Al Mamun

Rangpur Riders Overseas Players : Darren Sammy, Lendl Simmons, Thisara Perera, Sachitra Senanayake, Mohammad Nabi, Wahab Riaz
